Estelle Filen

I am a 50-year-old woman who up until 56 days ago, despised myself. Yes, that’s right, I have been carrying around feelings of guilt & self-loathing for many years. I was also on my way to what I feel is an alcoholic.

What changed?

The Diet Doctor was a life saver. I did not have too much weight to lose (10kg’s or so) compared to some of the other ladies, but I needed something like this to help save me from myself.

I participated alongside a group of ladies, who supported & encouraged each other as well as had an incredible Coach to guide me along and be accountable to! Sunita Gouws I am eternally grateful.

Weight loss is about so much more than the weight, right? During the challenge we were assigned “homework” which took us out of our comfort zones a bit. Practicing mindfulness & doing affirmations & meditations was foreign and a bit daunting to me to be honest. But I did it, along with journaling & the famous Wonder Woman pose!

My favorite part was the steady state exercise that we HAD to do. I love exercise you see, but over the years had become lazy, unfit & soft where the muscles had been. I come from a previous body building background. Every day was a test of persistence, resilience & consistency which proved to result in success!

The result?

I lost 5kg’s, so many centimeters & regained my fitness, but mostly I found Estelle again. I found that beautiful blonde, freckle faced girl with a cheeky giggle & a lust for life who doesn’t need to rely on alcohol to feel good any longer!

I thank the Diet Doctor, I thank the Ditch The Diet Revolution, I thank our coaches, Carol, Sunita & Lana, I thank the team at the Diet Doctor who work so hard, I thank the amazing ladies who participated with me some of whom I have formed great friendships with, I thank the program, products & the eating plan which nourished my body, I thank my tireless treadmill for carrying me for kilometers & kilometers even when I didn’t feel like it, I thank my fiancé Charles for encouraging me & being my biggest fan but most of all I thank Estelle for having the COURAGE to do this!

“COURAGE DOESN’T ALWAYS ROAR. SOMETIME COURAGE IS THE LITTLE VOICE AT THE END OF THE DAY THAT SAYS I’LL TRY AGAIN TOMORROW” – Mary Anne Rademeyer
